Sport
Rand Park High School has a proud sporting tradition that is steeped in excellence.
The school boasts a wide variety of sporting activities including the more traditional South African sports such as Rugby, Cricket, Swimming, Netball and Hockey. We also offer sports that are often associated with private schools including Golf, Equestrianism, Cycling and Water Polo.
Our school’s sporting facilities are another source of great price as we offer a 12-lane heated swimming pool; three fields, seven Tennis/Netball courts and eight Cricket nets.
Great effort is placed on ensuring that our coaches are well qualified in their sporting codes and that they are kept abreast of the latest trends in coaching.
Some of our recent notable performances include the following:
- Rand Park High is one of the top Rugby schools in the English Co-ed schools division. The U14, U15 and 1st Teams won the Pirates’ League Trophies in 2025. Many of our players – across all age groups – were selected for the Central West rugby teams and competed at Rhino Week.
- As winners of the Inter-High Athletics in 2024, we had reason to celebrate our talented athletes. Our top athletes compete during the 1st Term of each year against top schools at various meetings. Athletics is also offered during Term 3. One of our learners, Oluchi Ndubueze, has represented South Africa at the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) Championships in the U18 age category and achieved gold!
- Our Cricket teams, under the guidance of resident coach, Renato Almeida, continue to perform well and we are among the top Co-ed schools in the region. Girls’ Cricket has been introduced too.
- The Water Polo teams compete against the stronger Water Polo schools, particularly the private schools. This team sport is physically demanding and combines speed and strength, physical fitness and teamwork.
- Our Netball has made it to the strongest League in District 10 and has excelled. Rand Park’s 1st Team placed 4th overall in the Gauteng province and 17th in the country. We are ranked as the top English speaking school in South Africa based on the National Championships that were played during July 2025.
- The Equestrian team had a very successful year with a record number of riders entering the Gauteng West regional competitions; two of whom were selected to represent Gauteng in the Nationals.
- Hockey is a popular sport at Rand Park. Our Boys’ Hockey competes in the Aitken A-section. Two of our girls’ hockey players were selected for the Southern Gauteng hockey teams.
