Sport at Rand Park High
Rand Park High School has a proud sporting tradition that is steeped in excellence.
The school boasts a wide variety of sporting activities including the more traditional South African sports such as Rugby, Cricket, Swimming, Netball and Hockey. We also offer sports that are often associated with private schools including Golf, Equestrianism, Cycling and Water Polo.
Our school’s sporting facilities are another source of great price as we offer a 12-lane heated swimming pool; three fields, seven Tennis/Netball courts and eight Cricket nets.
Great effort is placed on ensuring that our coaches are well qualified in their sporting codes and that they are kept abreast of the latest trends in coaching.
Some of our recent notable performances include the following:
Rand Park High is one of the top Rugby schools in the English Co-ed schools division. Our Cricket teams, under the guidance of resident coach, Jimmy Breakey, continue to perform well and we are among the top Co-ed schools in the region. The Water Polo teams compete against the stronger Water Polo schools, particularly the private schools, with our First Team Girls’ placing 11th overall at the 2016 National Co-eds Water Polo Tournament. We are fast becoming known as one of the best public Water Polo schools in our District.
Our Netball has made it to the strongest League in District 10 and has excelled. Three of our First Team Netball players have been selected for the 2016 Gauteng Netball team. The Equestrian team had a very successful year with a record number of riders entering the Gauteng West regional competitions; two of whom were selected to represent Gauteng in the Nationals.
Sports include: Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Cricket, Squash, Tennis, Swimming, Athletics, Water Polo, Cross Country, Hiking, Orienteering, Cycling, Equestrian and Chess.
Our Rugby First Team gratefully acknowledges Fury for its ongoing and generous sponsorship provided towards our Rugby programme.
